| Thank you for taking the time to look into
this matter. I had mixed feelings about the diagnosis from the original
tech myself, and decided to obtain a second opinion. I called then back
and spoke to a different technician this time. After awhile on hold,
he came back to inform me that the laptop indeed does have a compatibility
issue with the USB 2.0 ports on the replicator. I had doubts because
when Windows was installing drivers for the device, it originally detected
it as a USB 2.0 Hub, but then switched to the generic USB 1.1 drivers.
To make a long story short, I found out that the only way to add USB
2.0 to the notebook is through PCMCIA adapter.
I wanted to say thanks again for the timely reply and for actually taking
the time to look into the matter instead of just cranking out the return
to get me out of your hair. You would have saved me a lot of time and
expense had I still believed the unit was defective. Overall, I am very
pleased with the whole experience with TechExcess, and would gladly recommend
them to friends.
